How do I book tickets as a foreign tourist?

The Golden Rules for Foreign Tourists
These rules apply to every paid attraction in Chengdu. Get them wrong, and you won't enter.
Real-name reservation is mandatory. One person, one ID, one ticket. Every paid attraction uses this system. You cannot buy tickets at the gate for most attractions.
Your passport is your ticket. Use your passport number when booking. The automated turnstiles only read Chinese ID cards, so you must use the manual check-in channel. Bring the original passport—photos or copies are invalid.
No WeChat? No problem. If you don't have WeChat or Chinese payment, use Trip.com. It supports international credit cards and has an English interface. Some attractions also accept on-site payment at a cash or bank card window, but only if tickets are still available.
Set your alarm for 8:00 PM. The Panda Base, Sanxingdui, and Dujiangyan all release tickets at 20:00 Beijing time. Tickets for high-demand attractions can sell out within minutes.

Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding (Panda Base)
The Panda Base is the most popular attraction in Chengdu. It's home to the famous panda Hua Hua, and there is no off-season. Some visitors queue from dawn to see her.
Price: 55 RMB adult, 27 RMB half-price.
Booking window: 14 days in advance. Tickets release daily at 20:00 Beijing time.
Daily capacity: 85,000 (45,000 for the morning session, 40,000 for the afternoon). Once sold out, no more tickets are available.

Sanxingdui Museum
Sanxingdui is a world-class archaeological site with artifacts from the ancient Shu civilization. It's a day trip from Chengdu, but worth it.
Price: 76 RMB adult (some sources say 72 RMB; the official price may vary slightly).
Booking window: 5 days in advance. Tickets release daily at 20:00 Beijing time.
Hours: 8:30-18:00, last entry 17:00. Summer hours (July 1-August 31) extend to 20:00.

Chengdu Museum is a free, high-quality museum in the city center. It has a "Weekend Children's Museum" on Friday and Saturday.

Jinsha Site Museum
Jinsha Site Museum is closed for renovation from December 5, 2025, to April 30, 2027.
Do not plan a visit. The Sun and Immortal Birds Gold Ornament and Gold Mask are not on display. There is no alternative booking available.

Booking with a Chinese ID number instead of your passport
If you use a Chinese friend's ID number, the ticket will be linked to that person, not you. You won't be able to enter. Always use your own passport number.
Arriving at the wrong gate for the Panda Base

Trying to enter with a photo or copy of your passport
